July and August Prayer Calendars for Children

Praying_Hands002Prayer is such an important part of a Christian’s life. It is through prayer where we communicate and connect with the One who loves us more than anyone else – our Father God. As parents, we want our children to have intimate relationships with Jesus Christ. We want them to read their Bibles and we want them to learn to pray. However, prayer can be difficult for children. They struggle with knowing what to pray for, what words to say, and even how to pray in the first place.

To be honest, prayer can also be difficult for adults. Even the disciples, the very ones who spent all their waking moments with Jesus, asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. In response, Jesus gave them an example – a scripture we know as “The Lord’s Prayer”.

I want to help my children learn how to pray . . . and that they can pray for anything . . . and that they can be creative in their prayers. . . and that they can pray BIG . . . you get the idea . . . so I made these prayer calendars. The prayer calendars follow the guide set forth in the Lord’s Prayer, and give children (and maybe even adults) a different item to pray for on each day of the month. The prayer calendars follow this schedule:

Sundays: “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name” – discovering and praising God for His Names/attributes
Mondays: “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” – praying for God’s will to be done in different areas such as missions, the body of Christ, the persecuted church, the local church, and governments.
Tuesdays: A continuation of Monday
Wednesdays: “Give us this day our daily bread” – Praying for people who are close to us (ourselves, family members, neighbors, friends) and their individual needs.
Thursdays: “And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors” – Praying for forgiveness.
Fridays: “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” – Praying for areas/industries that can lead to temptations.
Saturdays: The week ends with a suggested prayer activity.

Disclaimer: these prayer calendars are not meant to dictate your prayer life . . . they are just to be used as a guide. Pray for whoever, whatever, and however you want . . . just pray! And if you need a little guide to help you or some ideas to get you going, use these calendars!

If you find this helpful, be sure to check back in August for calendars for September and October!

NOTE: If for some reason you are unable to open the pdf files, scroll down and you will see each day’s item in this post.
